Veneers make your beautiful smile even more dazzling by covering the front of your teeth with a permanent and custom-made shell made of porcelain and composite materials. However, many innovations transcend this traditional approach to cosmetic dentistry. Contact us at Carlyle Dentistry to discover which of the following advances are available at our Kinston office.

Digital Smile Design

digital dentistry

Digital Smile Design (DSD) relies on an accurate virtual model of your smile that can be used to digitally plan any treatments before any physical work occurs. You can examine a computer-created preview of the smile transportation to ensure the final result matches your expectations. DSD increases your confidence in the dental procedure while enhancing communication between you and the dentist.

Intraoral ScanningDSD produces such accurate digital models by using intraoral scanners to create digital images of the teeth and gums, eliminating the use of traditional dental molds, which are uncomfortable and require time to produce. The dentist uses a handheld wireless device to scan your teeth and gums and examine them on a computer screen, allowing for a close-up view of the inside of your mouth.

3D Printing

Highly accurate crowns, dentures, bridges, and other dental structures can be 3D-printed from a digital model developed by DSD. You won’t have to spend much time waiting for a lab-made restoration when it can be printed relatively quickly and efficiently in the dental office. Because 3D printing reduces labor costs and materials, depending on the resin used and whether a third party is involved, the price of the prosthetic also goes down.

Biomaterials

Biomaterials are any materials used to restore damaged or missing teeth, such as titanium and titanium alloys, dental composites, or stem cells. Because they are designed with the right chemical, biological, and physical properties, they work with the body without causing adverse reactions. The veneers, fillings, crowns, and other dental prosthetics made from these materials more closely resemble natural teeth in their look and function.

Clear Aligners

For straightening teeth, clear aligners, such as Invisalign, replace the obvious metal permanence of traditional braces with discreet and nearly invisible plastic forms that are also removable for convenience. They will continue to improve with better designs and materials for better comfort and faster treatment times. At Carlyle Dentistry, we offer this innovation.
